I once had a similar thought: if we were to build stations/cities on the moon, you’d likely be able to see the light from them when they’re in shadow.
This would be kind of cool, but imagine you don’t know about people building cities on the moon and all you see are these glowing lines spreading across the moon. You’d probably think the moon was breaking apart or something. I’d imagine some “uncontacted tribes” would feel like it’s a sign of the end of the world.

From the comments below, not quite what I had in mind. More of a, they see these planes flying in the sky and maybe interpret it as a sign of whatever deity/deities they worship

Such a fantastic movie! I remember watching it a bunch as a young kid, and saw it more recently as an adult. Love it!
I could be wrong but I do remember reading somewhere that after ww2 there have been instances in pacific islands of native people standing on old runways doing the flag stances in hopes it brings in a plane.

No, not quite. Cargo cults didn’t worship the vehicles, rather the notion of the abundance that they brought. The famous Melanesian ones in WWII happened in societies in which gift-giving was already the key to social power; when WWII came along, both the Japanese and Allied forces brought unbelievable quantities of supplies to the islands and then also intentionally handed out a lot of stuff in order to play into that social practice. It was enough that some locals interpreted it as a sign that they could return to their old ways that had been suppressed under Christian colonial rule, the first signs of a coming new age of prosperity
Anyway all that is to say that no, uncontacted tribes can’t have cargo cults because part of the formation of a cargo cult involves contact
Our maybe they treat airplanes as mystical objects used for fortune telling and other magical and religious purposes. That’s how stars and planets were treated before we figured out what they really are.
Long ago, medicine, chemistry, alchemy, astronomy and astrology were just one big mess. People used that amalgamation for all the purposes you could imagine.
Astrology is still a big mess and shouldn’t deserve a place in a list with real science.

Especially scheduled flights… They may see the same aeroplanes on the same schedule
And when the schedule is off, you get worried. Could it be a sign about the next crop? Should we have planted something else instead? Was it a mistake to marry this lady… So many questions.
