I laughed so much i cried when watching Idiocracy. Its just that now, we have Trump acting way worse than the characters in the movie, so Im kind of not laughing anymore at where things are going.

Its some large psy-ops where people are supposed to feel like the world is so insane and there is nothing they can do. But outside of this “social” media, there are a lot of decent, intelligent people still around who doesnt buy into all the bullshit.

Unfortunately a lot of young people will believe this is normal, since they dont know how it was before.

I have many flaws. But I do actually like who i am. Im honest, and kind. But I dont have high hopes for the future of humanity.

Im just being honest. Not sure how many people feel like I do about it. Perhaps just a handful, perhaps millions.

But yeah, im sure its selfish to just not care that much about what happens to humanity.

I think its alright. If humanity dies out, I think we are simply not intelligent enough to live on. We built systems of capitalism and killed our planet. So be it.

Im not American so I dont have a 401k, and im not part of New Deal or Great Society style programs… But sure, I understand why you would assume that. It makes sense because of what I wrote.

About perishing because climate change, I dont believe that will happen. Nature is the least of our problems. Our leaders are the problem. Their greed and lust for power, their tendencies to be narcissists or full blown evil monsters. The worst of humanity. At the top of the pyramids of power.

If the US goes into a full depression, its because of its leaders. The rest of us havent done anything. I think you should blame them, and not previous generations of people just like yourself.

Every young generation feels like that. Every single one before yours felt the same. :)

100% agree with the last part. But misinformation is fought by having discussions about it, not by censoring it.

You say you are afraid of the potential damage its doing to the fediverse. Well, now you have removed your voice from the discussions. They will still be there, even if you are not looking at them. You just walked away from it.

You know when you “protect” kids by not talking about something, it only becomes more exciting to them? I dont know, I rather just talk to the kids about it. Have a laugh about how weird the world is together.

And I agree, debating them is not really worth doing. But state your opinion and walk away. I have some unpopular opinions too that Lemmy doesnt like. But I keep saying them. Because i still think im right about those things. But im not going to debate for long. Its not worth our time.
