I’ve seen this tactic before tho. Like the owner of the 76ers wanted to build a new stadium in Philly, but knew people would protest it because there are already a lot of sports stadiums. So he made a big push to advertise that it would be built like right in the middle of a neighborhood faaaarrrr away from all the other stadiums. Everyone protested THAT and after a few weeks the owner capitulated. He was like “FINE , I’ll build my big, expensive, tax break garnering stadium by all the others,” which is what he actually wanted from the beginning.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Fetterman was supported by Republican interests for a similar purpose.

I understand why it is this way, but I hate that journalists act like nobody knew this would happen. They act like Occupy & BLM never happened. They are not operating based on what’s intelligent, they’re operating based on a weak ideology. That ideology (neoliberalism) is full of contradictions because it exists exclusively to maintain the status quo and grow the wrath of the elite. Therefore, their actions are and will become more contradictory. It’s not a bug it’s THE feature. Their actions will never match their words because their words are a means to an end and not an end themselves.

They are “fiscally responsible” because they are maintaining the status quo of the economy.
