If you didn’t know, there’s a common Republican talking point that – because the Democrats were the racist slavers in the 1800s and the Repuublicans the progressive abolitionists – the modern-day Democrats are the real racists because like, like, uh, look at what they did 160 years ago! Completely ignoring, of course, the context I linked to above.
