I’m not ignoring that! What I said was that this was inevitable after Israel started sucking up military aid. Once that process began they would suck the US dry to bomb all their neighbors, and no one in the US government would even try to stop them because they all support this course of events. I don’t mean to imply that Israel is unstoppable, but rather, that everyone in the US government loves helping Israel do genocide so much that the few voices against it would always be drowned out.

If you actually think about why Operation Al-Aqsa Flood happened, I’m not entirely sure the nuclear deal actually would have prevented it. The attack was launched because of normalization with the rest of the Gulf states, because normalization with Israel is a death sentence for Palestinians and a direct path to ethnic cleansing of both Gaza and the West Bank, and normalization was always the goal. Iran isn’t the puppet master behind Hamas. Hamas has its own agenda and leadership, Iran is just an ally.

If anything, in a situation where Iran has a nuclear deal and normalization with the Gulf states is progressing, Hamas would be under even more pressure to launch an attack before it was too late to fight back at all!

I also take issue with “There was no problem supplying Israel” - it was a big fucking problem because they’re fucking colonizers. They were colonizers before Oct 7th and now they’ve ripped the mask off, but they’ve always been settlers and colonizers and genocidiers.

Well after being betrayed the first time it seems obvious that Iran would require more assurances and a more binding nuclear agreement, and that’s just something the US would never be willing to agree to. Iran would also have problems with the Arab-Israeli normalization plan and, if they had a seat at the table, would have slowed everything down.

Also, Biden is very Zionist. I don’t think we can discount that he might just personally hate Iran for being a obstacle to Israel.

Trump could, hypothetically, choose to supply Ukraine with weapons if and only if he stopped supplying Israel with weapons. That obviously isn’t going to happen because Israel gets priority over Ukraine, because they’re the unsinkable aircraft carrier. I said this was inevitable because Israel was always going to get the priority no matter who the president is and no matter which party controls Congress. Trump chooses to support Israel over Ukraine because that’s what every US politician would always do.

… although, yeah, him tearing up the nuclear deal in his first term and his Arab-Israeli normalization plan to unite Israel and the Gulf states against Iran actually might have set us on this course. The nuclear deal could have potentially brought Iran in-line with US interests in the region, and he blew that up. Normalization, meanwhile, was basically the reason for Operation Al-Aqsa Flood which started this phase of the Israeli genocide against Palestinians (to be clear, the genocide was ongoing before Oct 7th).

In the counter-factual, where Hilary won and the nuclear deal was maintained and Iran was brought in with the rest of the Gulf states in alliance against China, Israel probably would have been able to carry out its ethnic cleansing of Palestine without a war. Instead, thanks to Trump, Israel is going to destroy itself trying to wage war on all of its neighbors and will be broken against the Axis of Resistance.

Naturally people will blame Trump because he doesn’t really care about Ukraine, but this was inevitable when Israel started sucking up all of the USs military aid. Without a massive increase in industrial capacity to build even more weapons, eventually, the stockpiles were always going to run low.

In part, so we don’t assign intelligence to mindless, unaware, unthinking things like slime mold - it’s so we keep our definitions clear and useful, so we can communicate about and understand what intelligence even is.

What you’re doing actually creates an unclear and useless definition that makes communication harder and spreads misunderstanding. Your definition of intelligence, which is what the AI companies use, has made people more confused than ever about “intelligence” and only serves the interests of the companies for generating hype and attracting investor cash.

There’s a reason philosophy of the mind exists as a field of study. If we just assign intelligence to anything that can solve problems, which is what you seem to be doing, we are forced to assign intelligence to things which clearly don’t have minds and aren’t aware and can’t think.
