Do you get value for your money in your country?
I’m okay with paying my taxes, don’t really care if it’s more or less as long as they are responsible with spending it.
I rate my town government B- and national government B+ when it comes to responsibility.

I pay tax so that someone else can figure out who murdered who.
Please, I only have one life and I don’t want to spend it thinking about miserable things.

You’ll be expected to take care of the mess with disaster relief for the survivors. Also about 40% of the people did vote for you. Also even the ones who did not vote for you still pays tax.
If you live in a dictatorship: police brutality is cheaper and is a bit more selective in it’s targeting.

If you hack a big organization you’ll get more then a few dollars from a bank account. They also have a lot more things that could be vulnerable to hacking.

When you’re thinking about any problem, try to figure out how you can make it worse, then make really sure you avoid doing that.
Want to be happy? Find out what makes you sad and if you can avoid it.
Want to lose weight, how do people who try to gain weight go about it?
Want to convince someone of something? How do you go about making sure they will dig their heels in?
Need to carry a couch up a flight of stairs? How do you break you back and pinch your fingers?

The man made horror of moving out of Africa?
Alexandria during summer has about 14 hours of daylight and Johannesburg during their summer has about 13.
The Nordic Capitals have sunset some time after 21 and 18 hours of daylight now.
Fucks with your sleeping patterns is the most common complaint I hear. Not so much at 21:00 but if sunset is after 21 then sunrise will be about before 3.
And you left a 9μm gap in the curtains that definitely makes it shine straight in your eyes walking you up.

Political skew. You don’t benefit from being in an echo chamber. It will also drive away people you don’t agree with politically but do enjoy the same niche hobbies. Not sure about you but I’m much more interested in my hobbies than politics.

If you chop up a property in the middle of a big city and do this they may find the public interest outweighs your property rights. Or if you live in an authoritarian state.

Incentives: you find a girlfriend the app lose a customer. They are not optimized for you finding a girlfriend.
Gender imbalance: there are about 3* guys for every girl. There is very little leftovers for you as an average guy. *Very crude counting from me 5 years ago.
Sure you may find one and it’s relatively low effort. Don’t get your hopes up.
Funny anecdote: I’ve had more luck getting dates from World of Warcraft.

You drive away the ones who voted democrat last election.

zxqwas@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What do you think the solution to selling progressive politics to young men is ?1·12 days agoI don’t follow the media and the debate where you live, but over here left leaning politicians and media tends to frame it as: women, minorites etc have a problem. Men are the problem.
You’re basically pushing any undecided man over to the right.
If you get the wrong idea about how good they actually do it’s not because you got my scale wrong, it’s because I spent 5 minutes thinking about how I feel they do.
