Americans don’t understand how good things are in their country. Gaza will gladly accept ICE x 10 over what is going on.

    Americans need to touch grass.

The ones that will see this Lemmy post do I think. I see yanks on here getting shit constantly but I haven’t come across a single one fitting the “ignorant” stereotype.

We’re in a small echo chamber here. Getting out and talking to people, online or IRL, in my conservative town is eye opening and appalling.

For example; I posted on NextDoor.com about the administration destroying NOAA, with links to Project 2025’s page on the subject. I was buried with hate.

      Dare I post this?

      https://michaelrlowry.substack.com/p/critical-hurricane-forecast-tool

We live and die by NOAA’s predictions. These people gave me 20 reasons they didn’t care; I’m an idiot, Project 2025 is liberal lies, don’t use NOAA or the NWS, all that. The perfect example:

“I don’t care if I have to pay for the NWS weather. I already pay for a weather app.”

“Uh, you’re paying for free, government funded data, and where do you think you app got that data?”

“Not arguing with people like you.”

Not get me started on ICE and the local cops.

You have a decent chance to survive somewhat unscathed if abducted by ICE. If you get abducted by the IDF you are basically guaranteed to be tortured, raped, killed or all of the above.

The US is in a bad place, but i don’t think you truly understand how bad things are in Gaza.

ICE seems to have already checked two of those boxes, torture and killing.

And I bet rape must be happening in some of those ICE “holding facilities”.

Let’s ask Canada how their recently returned disappeared patron is oh wait we can’t because they were killed.

Let’s not downplay it, people are being tortured and killed by ICE and IDF because one government thinks certain people shouldn’t be in the country.

Its bad yes, but its just laughable to equate a literal genocide with hundreds of thousands of deaths, to people stuck in a cell for a few days, where one ended up dying. Its an insult to the Palestinian people.

Pretty sure this doesn’t fit the community, but also: ICE won’t shoot you with live ammo when you try to stop them.

Edit: Gaza is a whole different thing, but the IDF in the West Bank is what ICE wants to be.

For now. Don’t be ignorant, they all carry big guns for a reason - they certainly don’t go “rat-a-tat-tat” and light up when the trigger is pulled.

OP’s right. The comparison is ridiculous. And you’re right, it’s coming. Anyway, they’re not the only ones with big guns.
